Testimonials

Having seen historic houses worldwide, I can testify that Lyell Rosenzweig is a world class heritage painter and decorator, with a rare combination of skill and artistry.

He has restored three historic houses for us, two of them on the Register of the National Estate. In particular, his work on the magnificent and massive Barton Vale House interior won him Building Trades Awards of Excellence for Heritage Restoration and Decorative Finish.

Lyell’s subtle recreation and adaptation of original 1850’s paint schemes unfailingly attracts admiration from the many members of the National Trust and Historical Societies who visit Barton Vale.

We had the pleasure of using the services of Lyell Rosenzweig in the restoration of the casework of the 1875 Hill & Son Grand Organ, previously in the Adelaide Town Hall, now in the Tanunda Soldiers Memorial Hall.

This challenging project included initial investigations to ascertain the original 1875 contrasting oak ‘faux grain’ patterns through to the application of the restored grinning. We found Lyell’s understanding of Victorian period decorating to be comprehensive and his implementation of the final finish to be of the highest quality. He performs all work in a timely and skillful manner, achieving a stunning result.

Lyell is a rare artisan in this specialised profession.
